Our colleagues Dragana Pelikudovska-Trajchevska and Megi Dochovska are part of the documentary film “What Is Suffocating Prespa?”, which premiered last week on Sitel Television.
Through a series of conversations with various stakeholders, the documentary addresses the challenges Prespa is facing in terms of waste management and its negative impact on the environment. In this context, the representatives of the Macedonian Ecological Society provide the scientific perspective on the problem, emphasizing the inseparable interconnection of all components within the ecosystem, and explain how improper waste disposal gradually, through nature, negatively affects people as well. On the other hand, they explain how wetlands, when properly managed, can serve as a natural filter preventing harmful substances from flowing into the waters of Lake Prespa, thereby contributing to its protection.
The documentary film was produced by the Institute of Communication Studies, in cooperation with TV Sitel, within the framework of the campaign “Prespa? Wake Up for a Clean Environment”, as part of the project “Encouraging Changes in Citizen Behavior for Improving Waste Management Practices in the Prespa Region,” supported by the European Union. Project partners are the Macedonian Ecological Society and Eco-Guerilla Prespa.
