Our MSc Daniela Zaec is representing the Macedonian Ecological Society at the 5th World Congress of Biosphere Reserves, taking place from 22 to 26 September in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China.
Every ten years, the World Network of Biosphere Reserves convenes to establish priorities, strengthen cooperation, and define a Global Action Plan for the future. This year, more than 2,000 participants, including scientists, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and ecologists, will gather to shape the future of over 750 biosphere reserves under the protection of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 136 countries worldwide.
The discussions will focus on the contributions of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves to the global agenda for biodiversity and sustainable development, aligning efforts with key international frameworks, such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, the Paris Climate Agreement, and the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development.
