Today we began conducting a field survey among the residents of Prespa, with the aim of gaining a clearer picture of how artificial fertilizers are used in agriculture. Through this research, which will cover nearly all settlements in the region, we want to better understand the practices, challenges, and awareness related to orchard fertilization.
The questionnaire is designed to identify agricultural practices (type and size of orchards, management methods, irrigation, and choice of fertilizers), to understand the motivation behind the use or non-use of fertilizers, as well as to assess awareness of soil analyses prior to their application. In addition, the survey will explore the manner of using artificial fertilizers (types, quantities, frequency, and criteria for selection), attitudes toward organic alternatives (organic fertilizers and biostimulants), as well as the economic factors that influence farmers’ decisions.
The survey is carried out according to a clearly defined scientific methodology, which ensures that the collected data will be relevant, precise, and useful for future analyses and recommendations. In fact, the information obtained will help us gain a better understanding of the situation on the ground, but also to find ways to contribute to more sustainable agricultural practices in the Prespa region, and consequently – to a healthier environment for all!
This activity is implemented as part of the project “PrespaNet III – Transboundary Prespa Biodiversity Conservation”, supported by the Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust (PONT), the Aage V. Jensen Foundation, and EuroNatur.
