Prespa Green & Blue Initiative
Empowering Conservation through Research, Education and Communication

Overall Objective: Enhance the management of natural resources in the Prespa region through community engagement in targeted initiatives focused on environmental research, education, conservation efforts, and communication activities ensuring its preservation for generations to come.

 

The four objectives of the project are:

Education: The youth of Prespa have cultivated a nuanced comprehension of environmental complexities, acquired essential skills, and fostered a profound motivation to safeguard the natural environment in transboundary Prespa.

Research: Strengthened institutional capacities of protected areas management bodies for monitoring of priority species and habitats with emphasis on Natura 2000 species and habitats.

Conservation: Targeted conservation actions lead to the recovery of species as well as restoration and resilience of habitats and ecosystems.

Awareness: Enhance the sustainable conservation efforts in Prespa through a comprehensive and inclusive program of awareness-raising and communication activities.

 

Implementing partners: Macedonian Ecological Society (MES), Municipality of Resen, Public lnstitution Galicica National Park, Public lnstitution Pelister National Park, Society for the Protection of Prespa (SPP), and Protection and Preservation of the Natural Environment in Albania (PPNEA).

 

The project is funded by the European Union, and cofunded by the Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust (PONT).
