PrespaNet is a network of environmental NGOs whose work and conservation interests largely overlap in the Prespa basin. Established on 23 March 2013 through combined efforts of the Macedonian Ecological Society (MES), the Society for the Protection of Prespa (SPP) and Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania (PPNEA), PrespaNet is dedicated to solving this unique region’s conservation issues through fundamental research, social engagement and compromise.

Currently the network is working on the project “Strengthening NGO-led Conservation in the Transboundary Prespa Basin” financed by PONT and the Aage V. Jensen foundation. This project significantly furthers MES’s activities in the region and, more importantly, introduces a transboundary dimension. After all, the proper conservation of Prespa rests on transboundary coordination. Currently the project on strengthening NGO-led conservation in the Prespa basin rests on five pillars:

Wetland Management and Restoration

Communications and Environmental Education

Large Carnivore Research and Damage Mitigation
